                              HIGHLIGHTS OF RICE CISD BOARD OF TRUSTEES

REGULAR MEETING

                           HELD ON MONDAY, NOVEMBER 10, 2003 AT 7:00 P.M.

 

Roll Call/Establish Quorum/ Call Meeting to Order:

A quorum of Mr. Joe Lee Perez, President; Tanya Wiese, Vice President; Betty Schiurring, Secretary; Carolyn Baird, Laurel Milentz, Vivian Spanihel and Jack Vawter; Trustees were in attendance for the meeting.  Dr. Richard E. Gott, Superintendent; Bill Hefner, Business Manager; Melissa Neubauer, Superintendent’s Secretary were also in attendance.   The Regular Meeting called to order at 7:13 p.m. by Mr. Perez. 

 

Receive Individuals:

Visitors in attendance were Gwen Knight and Veronica Curry.

Approve Minutes of Board Meetings: 

The minutes of October 13, 2003 were presented to the Board.

Tanya Wiese made the motion to accept the minutes of October 13, 2003 as presented.

 

Motion seconded by Laurel Milentz

Motion carried unanimously.

 

Review Revenue and Expenses: Revenue and Expenses:

Mr. Hefner presented the Revenue and Expense Report to the Board.

 

Board Response: 

Jack Vawter made the motion to accept the Revenue and Expense Report as presented by

Mr. Hefner.

 

Motion seconded by Vivian Spanihel.

Motion carried unanimously.

 

Campus Reports:

 

·        Eagle Lake Middle School – Gwen Knight

Ms. Knight reported that there are 228 students at the Eagle Lake Middle School.  The students are trying very hard to achieve and stay on task.  Report Card conferences were last week and parents were there and very receptive.  Parents that were unable to attend are re-scheduling for this week.  November 25th will be the first benchmark test for all grades in writing.

 

President Perez and Dr. Gott presented Ms. Veronica Curry with a plaque from the Texas Elementary Principals and Supervisors Association (TEPSA) naming her Assistant Principal of the year for the 2003-2004 school year.

 

New Business:

 

Accept Bids on Miscellaneous Items.  Exhibit # 1

The Board reviewed bids that were received on miscellaneous items.

 

Board Response: 

Carolyn Baird motioned to accept the bids as presented with the exception of Lot #151 which was

denied.

 

Motion seconded by Betty Schiurring.

Motion carried unanimously.

 

Declare End of Financial Exigency. Exhibit # 2

Mr. Hefner discussed declaring an end of Financial Exigency with the Board.

 

Board Response: 

Tanya Wiese motioned to declare an end of Financial Exigency as of November 10, 2003

 

Motion seconded by Jack Vawter.

Motion carried unanimously.

 

Colorado County Central Appraisal District Selected Board Members. Exhibit # 3

Mr. Hefner discussed appointing Steve Henderson and Fritz Leopold to the Colorado County Central Appraisal District Board.

 

Board Response: 

Tanya Wiese motioned to appoint Steve Henderson and Fritz Leopold to the Colorado County Central Appraisal District Board.

 

Motion seconded by Betty Schiurring.

Motion carried unanimously.


 

Facilities Report. Exhibit # 4

Mr. Hefner reviewed the Facilities Report with the Board.

Carolyn Baird motioned to accept the Facilities Report as presented.

2002 Local Tax Roll Audit. Exhibit # 5

There were no Budget Amendments at this time.

 

Student Transfer. Exhibit # 7

The Board reviewed the Student Transfer with Dr. Gott.

Tanya Wiese motioned to deny the Student Transfer as presented.

Substitute Teachers 2003-2004 (Additions)

Ginger Case, Deborah Fryar, Joe McCreary, Tiffany Seydler, Connie Cranek and Chrissy Andrejczak.

Jack Vawter motioned to approve the additions to the Substitute Teacher list for the 2003-2004 school year.
