The District
provides services for Pre-K through 12, spending an average of $6,500 per student
annually. It has a student/teacher ratio of 14.7 to 1 - below the state average of 16.1
students per teacher. It operates on an $13 million annual budget, levies an ad valorem tax rate of $1.298 per $100 of
assessed value, and has a property tax base of more than $593,000,000. The
District offers no tax abatements.
Rice CISD is fully accredited by the Texas Education Agency. We are
very proud of our schools and the successes they have experienced both
academically and in extracurricular activities. Our sports teams participate in University
Interscholastic League (UIL) District 28-AA. Rice CISD fields athletic teams in football,
basketball, baseball, track, power lifting, cross country, tennis, golf, softball and volleyball.
Rice CISD is also home to an award winning marching and concert band program, a
successful One Act Play program, a successful art program in high stakes
competitions, and a very successful Future Farmer's of
America program.

It is the mission of the Rice Consolidated Independent School
District to provide learning opportunities where individual student goals are
achieved; where students experience a high degree of learning and demonstrate
academic success; where all teachers and staff feel their contributions are
valued and experience satisfaction and pride in their work; and where confidence
in our District is perceived and expressed by parents, tax payers and
community.
