Texas Telephone Association Foundation Scholarship Applicant Must:
  1. plan to attend a Texas college or university

  2. have a 3.0 GPA or better

  3. have completed and submitted the Free Application for Federal Student Aid  Applications are available in the counselors office.

  4. Only two applications per high school allowed, so return application quickly to counselor

Colorado County Farm Bureau & Texas Farm Bureau (TFB) Scholarships

For information on the following awards from Farm Bureau, See Mr. Politsch:

Charles, Lela and Mary Slough Foundation Scholarship
  1. Applicant must be a Texas resident & U.S. citizen.

  2. Must demonstrate need on FAFSA.

  3. Must have a minimum GPA of 3.0.

  4. Must submit a one-page essay and copy of official transcript with rank, GPA and ACT or SAT scores.

Ozarka Natural Spring Water “Every Drop Counts” Earth Science Scholarship
  1. Applicant must be a U.S. citizen and a Texas resident.

  2. Must have a GPA of 3.0 or above.

  3. Must have plans to pursue higher education in the Earth/Environmental Sciences at an accredited 4-yr. school.

"Don't Mess With Texas" Scholarship Program Applications are available for Texas high school seniors who have taken leadership roles to prevent litter in their schools and communities.  See Mr. Politsch for details. Applications must be postmarked April 4, 2008
Ronald McDonald House Charities Scholarship Program Currently enrolled seniors who are eligible to attend a two- or four-year college, university or Vocational/technical school may apply for ONE of these scholarship programs. The prestigious university recently announced that from now on undergraduate students from low-income families can go to Harvard for free ... no tuition and no student loans!

Ford Motor Company “Salute to Education” Scholarship

1.      Student must graduate in Spring 2007

2.      Must enroll in a community college, voc/tech School or a 4-year university.

3.      All seniors may apply regardless of GPA

4.      Must select one of ten categories for consideration of award.

5.      Application should be typed in its final copy with few or no strikeouts.      Incomplete applications will not be considered for award.

6.      Each application requires a faculty recommendation and the signature of the counselor.

Lower Colorado River Authority Scholarship Program

 

Rice High school may nominate two seniors for LCRA scholarships:

Ronald McDonald House Charities National Scholarship Programs

 

1.  Applicant must be a high school senior who plans to attend a 2 or 4 year university next year.

2.  Application must include a letter of recommendation from a teacher or school official.

Sam Houston State University Honors Program To qualify for these scholarships through SHSU, the applicant must meet at least one of the following:
  •  SAT Composite score  (critical reading & math) of 1200 or above

USDA/ 1890 National Scholars Program To qualify, the applicant must:
  1. Be a U.S. citizen entering college as a freshmen.
  2. Have a 3.0 or higher GPA and an SAT minimum score of 1500(including writing) or an ACT minimum composite score of 21.
  3. Attend one of the 18 1890 historically Black land-Grant institutions.
  4. Study Ag, food, or a natural resource science, or a related field.

Angelo State University - Carr Academic Scholarship Program If you are interested in attending Angelo State University, rank in the top 40% of your class and have a minimum SAT score of 970 (without the writing) or an ACT score of at least 19, you may qualify for scholarship funds.  For more information, see your counselor in room 26. Application must be postmarked by February 1, 2006
Micron Science and Technology Scholars Program Applicants must:
  • Be a high School senior in Texas
  • have a combined Verbal/Critical Reading & Math SAT score of at least 1350 or a composite ACT score of at least 30.
  • have an unweighted GPA of at least 3.5 on a 4.0 cale.
  • Plan to major in Engineering.

Houston Livestock Show & Rodeo 2006 Area “Go Texan” Scholarship

1.      Applicant must be a resident of Colorado County or an adjacent county.

2.      Must be a graduating senior in the upper 33% of the class, and  must have passed the TAKS Exit Exam.

3.      Must furnish proof of a minimum SAT score of 910 or a minimum ACT score of 19.  No application will be accepted without test scores.

4.      Applicant must enroll in or plan to enroll in a college or university within the confines of the state of Texas.

5.      A  typed narrative of not more than 2 pages double spaced is required with each application, as well as a head and shoulders photo, and may also attach a maximum of three (3) letters of personal reference.

6.      Other requirements are outlined on application form.  Forms are available from the counselors’ office.  Do Not Mail Individual Applications... Many individual forms from other counties have been lost in the past.

 

Completed forms are due back in the counselor's office or to Mrs. Krenek by

Jan 6, ’06.  Counselor will attach the required transcript and forward the application.

Greater Houston Chapter of the Texas Society of Professional Engineers- Texas Engineering Foundation 2005- 2006 Scholarship

 

  1. Applicant must be a U.S. citizen & high school student with a minimum GPA of 3.0.
  2. Must enter college in 2005 and have scored at least 600 on SAT math & 550 SAT verbal OR 29 in ACT math and 25 on ACT English.

Houston SPE Auxillary 2005- 2006 Scholarship

 

  1. Applicant must be interested in a career in the petroleum industry and have plans to attend a university in fall of 2006.
  2. Must have a GPA of 3.0 or higher and minimum SAT of 1100.
  3. Must submit an essay and letters of recommendation.
